Related: About this forumWhen the Chicago Cubs finally won the World Series in 2016, there was a disturbance in the universe
5 days later, Trump won the presidency and we went an awful new reality; his terrible first term, the world-wide Covid pandemic, January 6th, and now Trump's democracy ending second term.
If the Cubs can win it again in 2025, maybe Trump will die 5 days later and we will freed from our hellish Twilight Zone existence.
(This is all tongue in cheek, of course! )

Let's hope they can get it done again!

The Brewers got to one game but they've been playing out of their minds the last 2 weeks.

(583 posts)Matt Shaw would start hitting. He's excellent defensively. Last year, Pete Crow-Armstrong - also excellent defensively - was batting about .200 after 63 games or so, exactly where Shaw is. The difference is, last year the Cubs had no hope of winning the division. This year, one of the reasons they do have hope is that they have Pete Crow-Armstrong. Long term, the Cubs would ideally keep Shaw until he masters the hitting part of the game. Given the financial impact of a potential Kyle Tucker signing, it's more important than ever to get talented rookies on the roster.
If the Cubs can get two starting pitchers, they might be able to afford Shaw's anemic bat. He's a good kid, very likable. Someday, he's going to make some team a lot better. I'm hoping it's the Cubs.

(1,137 posts)He's moved lead off Ian Happ who's just not hitting to sixth and substituted Nico Hoerner against
left handlers and Michael Busch against righties. So far, it's paying off. Yesterday Hoerner hit a lead off
triple and scored ,and today, Busch hit a lead off home run.

(1,137 posts)Some Chicago sports championships have been associated with tragic events. In 1963, the Bears won
NFL championship a few weeks after JFK was assassinated. Their Superbowl win was two days before
the Challenger disaster and of course, winning the World Series just before Drumph winning.
