(3,415 posts)Watched an Arthur Ashe tournament win in '75, on the utubes, that had Borg, and Laver. Great chance to see backboard v. artist. Finesse at its best.
Sent copy to my son, played D1 around '10.
He met Laver recently in SoCal. He told me, so that's how you played back then.
Wonder, how looking at the olders, is now?

(1,678 posts)Another cool thing in the lead up to the US Open was Maria Sharapova getting inducted into the Tennis 🎾 Hall of Fame
We were watching the Miami Open earlier this year and I went down a rabbit hole looking for Countries of origin for some players.
Maria Sharapova some how came to mind and it's incredible what she has done with all her good work.
Congrats to Maria Sharapova
Maria Sharapova inducted into Tennis Hall of Fame by Serena Williams in Newport, R.I., on Saturday.

Cliff Drysdale and CoCo Vandeweghe just called the Naomi Osaka match with Mary Jo Fernandez courtside.
Speaking of old timers Cliff Drysdale is the only commentator who has been with ESPN since it's inception.
ESPN does such a great job covering tennis 🎾
