Flau'jae Johnson, Joyce Edwards Lead Team USA to FIBA Women's AmeriCup Gold

Savannah native Flau’jae Johnson and South Carolina standout Joyce Edwards helped lead Team USA to a 78-69 victory over Brazil in the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup final this weekend.

The American roster — composed entirely of collegiate stars — outlasted a Brazilian squad that featured WNBA players, including Kamilla Cardoso. Johnson and Edwards played key roles in the championship run, which secures Team USA a spot in the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Germany.

The win marks a significant summer achievement for both Johnson, a star at LSU, and Edwards, a highly touted freshman at South Carolina. Together, they helped extend the United States’ dominance on the international stage.
