If Jimmy can stay healthy, it might be hard for Trey to win the starting job back. But if Jimmy does wind up injured again and Lance's ankle injury is serious, that would leave it up to third-string Brock Purdy (Iowa State alum). But he was ruled out/inactive for today's game. Not sure if he also has any health issues.

There are so many more options when the passing game is led by an experienced QB. The really bad news for Lance is that a year of very needed learning and development is now lost. Bad news for the 49ers in 2023 too.

I enjoyed watching Jimmy Garoppolo play. He rode the bench like a pro, then stepped up and delivered.

I like incentive-laden contracts rather than guaranteed money. Wish there was more of this...

His current contract is for 1 year with a no trade/no tag clause. The better he does this year, the more he'll make next year.
