the forgetting

a time has come for the forgetting the turn almost complete
memory held and saved sacred is now growing a little stale
washed full out of colors regretting the bold and indiscreet
to stand before an audience naked scared sweating and pale
there can be no return nor retreat from the new punishment
reasoning and unreasoning blends tinged with all confusion
as babies cry and as calves bleat in the state of banishment
resolution falters and resolve bends accepting this delusion
knowing how to let go or to hold on choosing the directions
accepting both of gains and losses learning to pay the prices
the value of the losing the soul and minor mirror reflections
bearing the weight of the crosses now a lure of death entices
darkness grows darker as it envelopes the old warming heart
the crisis evolves as the night develops to keep a reality apart
