original sin

born of sex born in sin the punishment of pleasure
before waking of the thought at the mother’s breast
denying the animal within the secret of the treasure
a blackened garment bought at this one god’s behest
live unrepentant to the end only to vow a confession
salvaging a moment of grace from a trembling tongue
unto the will of laws to bend awaiting a last recession
all that is hidden of the face all now ending as begun
to reach for hands of angels while releasing the devil
fearing the eternal descent apart from all of the loved
depend on words of strangers escaping from the evil
every minute of time’s intent now into the fire shoved
the soul floating on a cloud drifts in the eternal dark
a lost spirit a mind unbowed stripped bare and stark
