a heart is still beating

to awaken each morning and a heart is still beating
rise gentle from the night of the vivid living dreams
the moment of forming both impactful and fleeting
accepting a new day’s light bathe in the soft beams
awareness grows stronger sordid thoughts are alive
as name and face appear tangled forever entwined
beside the life no longer deep into a lost heart dive
cling to a nightmare of fear for the destiny divined
is there someone to go back to and to cling so tight
a love to go bad for hidden from all the other’s view
one who can fill what i lack ceasing the restless night
on this trail that is ridden from this hand that i drew
seeking the refuge from being half alive or half dead
peeking into time seeing a half arisen a half of dread
