living in hell

so what is it like to live in hell is it to burn eternally
the skin reddens then flakes and falls as it blackens
will crusted embers give in to the soul fires internally
wilted and wasted flesh bakes the bones now slacken
or will hell be the torment of the tasks never ending
rolling a stone upward again and once more crushed
a wine of sweat to ferment the poison scent blending
never able to be forgiven of sin suffer quietly hushed
the punishment never ceases the refugees all huddle
watching the waters tantalize the bodies hacked apart
gathering the broken pieces over and over a struggle
again to hear the eagle cries rip the ashes of the heart
or is hell a place in the life where time and hope die
waiting for the killer’s knife while watching dreams fly
