the last of life

the last of life

now living in the last years of life awaiting
that one final blow or for a gradual decline
mulling over the past points contemplating
times past quick or slow and what to define
seeing the final sights hearing of last sounds
cherished scents wafting all caresses so soft
the tongue clings tight to the final grounds
memory’s constant chaffing hope held aloft
giving the final words unto those deaf ears
painting portraits of reality for those blind
to compose a dirge for each of human fears
ending with finality the jarring bones grind
the last of life the last breath shutting down
no more strife only the death is to be found

It flows wonderfully and to its logical conclusion.
It really is multiple poems in one, many ways it can be read because you haven't led.
The lack of punctuation makes it a playground.
Masterfully done.
