I'm already buying gifts for my not yet born great-nephew. He's not due until Dec. 29.
This will be the first child of my youngest nephew (my late sister's son) and his lovely wife. She is 1/2 Scottish, on her father's side, and (of course) the baby will have some Welsh some Welsh DNA from his late grandmother.
So I've purchased two stuffed toys, only about 10" tall, of a Red Dragon (Symbol of Wales) and a Unicorn (Symbol of Scotland).
It appeared that most of the things on her registry have been purchased so they will also be getting a check from me.
I honestly could NOT be more excited about this baby. I have a great niece from my sister's oldest boy and I love her to bits but rarely get to see her. For one thing, her mother has 'disowned' me. I didn't have the heart to tell her I was never a part of her family, she became a part of mine. She does have some significant emotional issues. BUT my nephew and his daughter are planning on being here for Christmas so I'll see my great niece AND, hopefully, be at the hospital when my great nephew is born. I picture that closing scene from the movie 'Parenthood', but with fewer participants.
Of course, my former brother in law's 'girlfriend' will do her best to claim the throne of Matriarch, even though she is NOT and never will be family. The baby shower is on October 4, and family has assured me that people will be put in their place. (Nobody but my former BIL likes her.)
Now I can't WAIT to share photos of this precious little boy, as soon as I stop joyfully crying enough to snap a photo!
