FINALLY finished up my yearly wellness check. It took 2 visits!
Not Oak Street's fault, really. My initial appointment was at 11, a couple of weeks ago. My NP and I get along so well that by the time the wellness check was done, the lab was getting ready to close for lunch. Since I had to come back, anyway, he scheduled 3 more things. One was some sort of breathing test, I guess to check lung strength. Mine are in good shape. Another was an EKG. I hadn't had one in about 4 years. Then he also ordered a ZIO patch, which is a heart monitoring device. It's stuck on my upper chest and I have to wear it for 2 weeks. I know he just wants to ensure that my heart rate, that is ALWAYS high during health visits, is just a part of my 'fight or flight' anxiety reaction, due to some past really bad experiences. Fine by me. It kind of itches and is absolutely in an awkward place, but it's just for 2 weeks so I'll just try to ignore it.
The tech that administered the tests asked me how I liked my NP. Of course, I was full of praise. She knows him well, having worked with him while he interned, and said that he is one of the kindest and smartest people she's ever known.
Another interesting thing I learned. He asked me about my patient advocate and DNR paperwork. Apparently it is not on file. Funny thing is, I turned those documents over to that wretched APN I had been assigned to so they should have them. IF she ever turned it over. She did seem to instantly dislike me so anything is possible.
Now to wait for the blood test results to come in AND for this device to be peeled off.
