When two air conditioning units serving a portion of the dog kennels at LifeLine's Community Animal Center recently began to malfunction, our HVAC vendor determined that two compressors need to be replaced.
Because the parts must be specially ordered, repairs are expected to take six to eight weeks. Until then, we are renting temporary air conditioning units to ensure the kennel remains properly cooled. The combined cost of repairs and rentals is an estimated $50,000.
With guidance from the HVAC vendor, our shelter management and veterinary teams are confident that the shelter will remain safe and comfortable for the dogs throughout the repair.
The Community Animal Center was designed with a specialized HVAC system that circulates 100% fresh air throughout the building, helping protect the health of the thousands of animals in our care each year. While this system is essential to preventing the spread of illness, it is also complex and expensive to repair. Unfortunately, this unexpected cost was not included in this year's budget.
Today, we're asking for your help. A gift of any amount will help cover these crucial HVAC repairs so we can restore the system while continuing to provide safe, comfortable shelter and lifesaving care for every animal who comes through our doors.
Thank you for standing with LifeLine, and with the animals who depend on us, when unexpected challenges arise.
