(36,604 posts)Apparently he lived all of his life in a cage at the shelter with her.
Released from the cage, he's wild man, I mean, um, cat. It's a joy with some ambivalence to watch him go wild with his toys.
Interestingly his Mom is this nice sedate young lady, estimated to be about 3 years old, now spayed. Every once in a while she has to swat him to get him to calm down, for example when he jumps on her or tries to nurse. She's something of a disiplinarian.
They're helping us get over the loss of our 18 year old cat a while back.

(21,949 posts)Silver and Andreas were their names. I loved them so much.
They both died not long after he did.
I was reluctant to adopt given the 9-year old female I have but she was just as lonely as I am since my husband and his cats passed away.
I'm so glad I decided to ADOPT and not SHOP!
The woman at the rescue didn't have much good to say about Guarda. Given his behavior, I think he was abused and/or hit on the head. He is now purring and comes to his name when you call him.
Kitty Nialls is thriving in his new home!

(908 posts)We went to the shelter hoping to get a pair but came out with three siblings - it would have been wrong to not take all three. Laverne, Shirley, and Tilly (I didn't name them).

(36,604 posts)...no one goes into a shelter without adopting. (All the other cats we've had were either strays we took in or were offloaded by family members.) She claimed she didn't know that, and that I should have warned her. She loves these new cats though.
We kept the Mom's name given at the shelter but changed the spelling from Keke to Kiki. We renamed the kitten Harry after Harry S. Truman. The name turns out to be appropriate. He gives 'em hell.

No way we were keeping that! I changed that before we even left the shelter. She's Chessie.

(21,949 posts)No more cringing in the corner!
and ...
Kitten Nialls is still stealing Missy's padded envelope of toys.
So for sure, adopt and do not shop!
So many cats are in this sad situation at a shelter.

(21,949 posts)It is an OIympus D-380, made in Japan. I bought it on ebay.com many years ago.
I've traveled the world with it.
I like it just fine!

(21,949 posts)You had to have specific software installed on your computer for it to work.
The made in Japan one requires no software; plug it in to a USB port and it works straight off!
As for the cats, well now Guardakitty doesn't like 9-Lives cat food any longer. He wants that Fancy Feast!
He's gone from a skid-row cat rescue to Mr. Finicky the Cat now!
