Related: About this forumAdoption day supposedly

I'm supposed to go look at some kittens and cats as Missy is so lonely since Silver and Andreas have passed.
I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not as she is very possessive of me now and right next to me every minute.
They have a large fee to adopt that can be adjusted for the disabled and elderly (of which both describe me).
The cats are all from a huge colony on the Indian Rancheria north of me. Last night I ran into a friend of mine and she knew of someone with a litter of kittens they are hoping to find home for.
We talked about it some and I told her I didn't know what to do.
I guess just going for a look/see is ok isn't it?
I may well come home empty handed but I'll put a crate and a towel on the seat of my new/used car just in case.
It sure isn't simple to adopt a pet these days.
No more kittens in a box with a person next to them at the local grocery store. Those days are GONE.
Wish me luck with whatever happens. If it is meant to be it will happen, that's what I think.
All the best, CountAllVotes

(868 posts)I'm sure it will turn out okay, whatever you decide. I have to admit, I'm pulling for adopting a kitten or cat. So many cats need a good home and you can provide a good home. That's my thinking anyway....................
Actually, I'm hoping you come across a cat that you just can't resist.

(6,137 posts)who'd love to torture small animals... that's why no more boxes of kittens at the grocery store. I feel your loss and your indecision. I hope you find one who bonds with you and erases all your doubts.
My Mom was in a position to need to find another cat as a friend for hers, many years ago. We looked at a PetSmart adoption day, and she fell in love with a fluff ball. It was a gorgeous kitten and would grow up to be a beautiful cat, I had no doubt. But there was this one very small tabby whose personality was a perfect complement to her current cat, Mac. I finally talked her away from the fluff ball and to the tabby. We brought the tabby home, she named her "Minnie" and Mac and Minnie were an old "married" couple until their deaths in their late teens. Mac went first. I brought Minnie home with me (by this time Mom was at a nursing home), and Minnie was inconsolable at losing Mac. Luckily, more than a few of my cats bonded with her and made her last days more tolerable.
I wish we could get the word out that cats aren't aloof and independent. They all have different personalities; they all love and need love, and feel things even deeper than many humans, IMO.
Hoping you find luck and love today... and a new baby finds a good forever home.

(7,002 posts)Rather mature or kittens. I hope you get two that are in dire need of love and will thank you for choosing them every day of their lives. Here's a 4 leaf 🍀 clover for luck. 🤞

(868 posts)I hope it works out for you.
As for her being shy, it may take a while for her to warm up to you (but then again, it may only take a couple of days). Give her as much time as she needs. My Holly, who I suspect was feral, was absolutely terrified of me and wouldn't come near me for years! Now, she wants to be around me all the time. I was patient and talked softly to her and let her know only good things happened around me. I never thought in a million years that she would warm up to me, but she finally did!
Anyway, best of luck to you and Sky. I wish you many, many happy years together.

(21,895 posts)I hope Missy won't be so lonely any longer.
All of this death around here is an energy that is --------> OUT of here now.
Got the car situation under control and giving a home to a cat that no one wants.
Sounds like good energy to me.
I happen to just
black cats! Very smart and gentle is my experience w/them.
It will take time for Sky (who may be renamed as she is so very gentle and sweet) I .
We'll see how it goes!
I also managed to fit a trip into the beauty college and got my hair cut for $10.50 so it was a win win win of a day!
everyone!

As I was leaving, a very shy 8 month old male was there. He likes to be with the kittens.
I looked into his eyes and they looked SO FAMILIAR to me. I couldn't quite pin it until yesterday.
Let me know your thoughts on this.
Thank you friends!

(868 posts)Can you take Angelo and Sky or does it have to be one of the kittens Angelo hangs around with?
Of course, you have to take your current cat into consideration. How will she react to two (or three) new siblings all at once?
I think you have a big decision to make and I also think you'll know the right thing to do. I'm pushing for Angelo and Sky myself. Angelo because of his resemblance to Andreas and Sky because you know you already love her.

Looks like I'll be getting him after a brief health check.
He is 10 mos. old and likes kittens so I'm getting one to go with him.
Here they are:
Hope you can see the pictures of my "new" family!
I'm thinking of naming big fellow "Michaelangelo" or "Guarda"
and for the other one, the little guy standing up next to him, his name is Finch.
I was thinking about renaming him "Cleo".
Any other ideas for names?
Congratulations are in order around here I'd say!
Now sure when I'll be getting my new family, but it should be soon!
----> Missy will be thrilled I am sure!
Alone no 'mo!
