I'm in my mid 70s now and it's a lot of work to keep it looking good. Wife thinks we should sell the place and move to town. I'm not to thrilled about that, but that day maybe sooner than I like.

And I apparently have a black one. 😱😂 seriously, everything I plant the deer decide is meant for them.

Thanks for the pictures. I'll show them to my wife, she's the gardener in the family.
I expect she'll be a bit envious.

around the base of the plants? Like the tomatoes, mainly. This prevents tomato diseases and it also keeps the watering from evaporating.

But good question. I'd like to know the answer, too.

from the house to the garden, but prefer filling my loader bucket on my John Deere with water and take it down. From there I fill up watering cans and water every plant. Keeps me active and it's good exercise for an old man.

Beautiful garden,
I`m 77 now, I don`t garden near as much as I used to . Fresh sweet corn, fried green tomatoes, green beans and different kinds of squash. I have 20 or so different kinds of fruit trees, thanks to arthritis I can`t prune them any more. I don`t think I`m alone but as soon as my garden is done it can snow. I have a good recipe for salsa if anyone wants it.
