What's for Dinner, Mon., Labor Day, Sept. 1, 2025

Indian food: Vegetable masala burger.

We have a Deep store/restaurant here. I stopped for some side dishes like spinach paneer. Also potato/pea samosas.

Kombucha: cherry-ginger.

Dessert: chocolate truffles.

DiamondDog got eggplants earlier this week and was looking for ideas.

I do like eggplant, but I think I've had my fill for now- 3 in a month!

If they were available more often, I'd spread it out a little

Just returned from cafe, have 1/2 gyro, and a bit of tomato bisque; awaiting for later with a coffee-cake cupcake, decaf iced coffee, and LATER later, ice cream.

The local place I've used for years is sliding down hill in quality & delivery.

Bummer.

I ordered a small veggie pizza & I made a side salad.
Lime fizzy water to drink

I needed to use up the deli chicken I got the other day. Homemade biscuits. I made enough dough to have 2 biscuits and make a fresh peach cobbler. Which turned out just right

seared and then simmered with a mixture of sauerkraut, raw cabbage, onion and chopped apple. Usually the liquid is beer, but we didn't have any suitable, so I just rinsed the sauerkraut jar with water. Homemade potato salad to go with. We had this at midday, this evening we are snacking on guacamole and chips and also fried okra. Looking forward to dessert, which is yellow cake with whipped cream and strawberries.

So, I'm going to make a small of pot of chili for supper. A hunk of sharp cheddar cheese to go with it, and plenty of tortilla chips to round it all out. Don't know if this is autumn actually hitting, or a false start, but I'll take it!

Grilled Field Roast frankfurters on whole wheat hot dog buns with mustard, onions and relish. Also had potato salad made with vegan mayonnaise and microwaved corn on the cob. Fresh peach pie for dessert. Happy Labor Day fellow DUers! Cheers!🥂
