Anyone watching "Department Q"?

A mystery/crime show set in Edinburgh. I saw the first episode last night and it looks like it's going to be great.

It's on Netflix.

Great actors, but complicated storylines. Had to rewatch epi 8 to get all of them straight.

Aside from distractingly terrible make up on all the actors, it’s really good.

On edit: They did better with it as it went on, and the acting, dialogue and photography are great. I really like the Syrian character, terrific moves.

... it's excellent. Dark humor and spot-on delivery from gifted actors has made it a favorite. Looking forward to the resolution of some of the more convoluted subplots.

Really good acting, interesting characters, twisty story. It tracked fairly closely with the book it was based on, The Keeper of Lost Causes, by the Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen. The blurb for the book describes the series plot pretty well:

Carl Mørck used to be one of Copenhagen’s best homicide detectives. Then a hail of bullets destroyed the lives of two fellow cops, and Carl—who didn’t draw his weapon—blames himself. So a promotion is the last thing he expects. But Department Q is a department of one, and Carl’s got only a stack of Copenhagen’s coldest cases for company. His colleagues snicker, but Carl may have the last laugh, because one file keeps nagging at him: a liberal politician vanished five years earlier and is presumed dead.
.
Except that the series is set in Edinburgh, Scotland, not Copenhagen. Turn on your closed caption because the Scottish accents are pretty thick, except for Carl's because he's English.

There is a whole series of books about Department Q, and they are very good if you like Scandinavian noir. Interestingly, mørk is Danish for "dark," which is a good adjective for the series and especially the books. Some some Danish TV versions of a few of the books came out 10 years ago or so, and they're also quite good (and dark).

It was very good and quite complex. I loved it when the Syrian cop showed what a badass he is

I just finished watching it. The case gets more complicated with each episode and the final one is a real nail-biter.
