Im 42 year old with type 2 Diabetes living in Texas. I had chicken pox as an infant.
From my understanding I am too young for the shingles vaccination and I am in this years gap age for the Covid vaccine .
However, in both cases I believe that there are exceptions for being immunocompromised. Since I have type II diabetes can I possibly get my doctor to write a script for me to get these vaccinations?
I have a 69 year old father with heart failure I care for and I work in education so I feel it is vital I get a Covid vaccination if I can.
I am absolutely terrified if I dont get them now that they could be banned and I wont ever be able to get them. I had a grandmother with shingles and I remember her crying herself to sleep from the pain. I dont ever want to experience that. Please tell me there is a chance of getting them!

At least thats what I hope. My confidence in sanity has been shaken by trump and his cult. Good luck.

Especially with regards to shingles!

(9,700 posts)I am so desperate to avoid both illnesses that I would even make whatever sacrifices I have to and pay out of pocket!
I even told my family Id drive to Canada if I have too (though it looks like Colorado might be an even closer option).
