Maldives successfully passes generational ban on tobacco products - ABC News (Australia)



The Maldives has made history as the only country in the world to successfully legislate a generational tobacco ban for anyone born on or after 01 January 2007. The president Mohamed Muizzu initiated and signed the bill, banning the next generation from any tobacco products. Professor Coral Gartner is the director of the NHMRC centre of research excellence on achieving the tobacco endgame at the University of Queensland and told The World other countries around the globe have previously considered this policy.
