Newly appointed SF supervisor to resign over pet store controversy

Newly appointed SF supervisor to resign over pet store controversy https://www.sfgate.com/politics/article/sf-supervisor-isabella-alcaraz-resigns-21175861.php

San Francisco Supervisor Isabella Alcaraz has agreed to resign just a week after being sworn in after allegations about her past as the owner of a pet store in the Sunset District, Mayor Daniel Lurie announced Thursday night.

______

Alcaraz’s appointment came under fire after reports that the pet store that she owned, the Animal Connection, “smells like death” due to the squalid conditions at the Irving Street business, according to a video released by Julia Baran, who took over the business earlier this year.

Baran told the San Francisco Standard that she found hundreds of dead mice, cages covered in rodent urine, mounds of trash, and a freezer filled with deceased pets.
