SEATTLE — One of the companies that contracts with Seattle Public Schools for bus service will lay off 111 employees this summer.

First Student, Inc. filed a WARN Notice with the state Wednesday, announcing it will lay off workers starting Aug. 17.

The company will permanently discontinue about 60% of operations at two locations in Seattle’s South Park and Lake City neighborhoods. The Lake City office will close, and remaining employees will operate out of the South Park location.

Most of the affected employees are drivers, according to the filing. A dozen technicians, supervisors, dispatchers and a clerk are also impacted, according to the filing.
