A Democratic landslide in November could flip a dozen or more legislative majorities that Republicans captured during the Obama era.

Donald Trump’s recent plunge in the polls has tempted Democrats to widen their dreams for a big night in November. A landslide victory for Hillary Clinton, they now believe, could bring with it control of the U.S. Senate and dramatically shrink the party’s gap with Republicans in the House—if not flip it entirely.

But there could be a Trump effect in another 2016 battleground that could shape the electoral landscape much further into the future: the elections for control of state legislatures.

Aid in getting justices, etc confirmed and perhaps jump start Congress from a do nothing to one which actually works.

That the RNC is taking its GIANT war chest and focusing on down-ticket races. Here in Ohio, Strickland and Portman were very close. However, Republican dark money has dumped MILLIONS into commercials that blame Strickland for the Bush recession, raising taxes, sending every job in Ohio to China, and kidnapping the Lindbergh baby. (okay, maybe they haven't brought up the Lindbergh baby, but the commercials suggest that Strickland is just shy of the antichrist) It's working. Strickland is now down 9 points despite Hillary's lead.

That's why we all have to do battle for every race all the way down the ticket.
