Sunday Roasts,I have a question

When I was a kid, on Sundays, my Mom would put a chicken/pork roast/beef in the oven before we walked the 3 blocks to St Kevin. 90 minutes or so we walked back & a big meal was done.

I thought it was just my Mom as a kid.
I recently have been rooting around in British forums and discovered my Mom was copying anold British post war tradition.

My question, can you put chicken gravy over Yorkshire pudding in the UK?

Yes this is bait.

I think it would cover all four nations (probably including the Republic of Ireland, but that should await confirmation from someone who know that country better).

Chicken gravy on Yorkshire pudding? Yes, you can, but you don't need to bother. Chicken has stuffing as its special accompaniment (plus its crispy skin). Pork has crackling (and in my childhood home, 'dressing', ie stuffing cooked outside the joint). Lamb has mint sauce (or jelly for those with a sweeter tooth), and it's beef that needs Yorkshire pudding. And beef gravy probably does have a little extra taste that complements it (I'd guess lamb gravy would work quite well with it too).

Yorkshire pudding is not needed for chicken. If you need to go beyond the stuffing, then it's bread sauce.

They go brilliantly with all roast meat (not just roast beef) as well as making excellent bar snacks. There's also a trend for Yorkshire pudding wraps at the moment.

Not only that, but it's the basis for Toad in the Hole!

I suggest your question belongs there.
