Four aldermanic seats, mayor's office up for election in '26

The most senior member of the Rhinelander Common Council has announced he will not see re-election in 2026. Alderman David Holt, who has represented District 6 for the last eight years, made the announcement during the council’s Nov. 10 meeting.

“Two terms is enough. Eight years is a long time,” Holt stated during the public comment portion of the meeting. “I wanted to give ample notice to District 6 so that anybody else who might be thinking about running can have time to think about it.”

Holt, who will serve out his term through April, reflected positively on his time in office and the city’s progress during his tenure.

“It’s been an honor and a pleasure to serve the city and the community,” he said. “I’m proud of where the city is now compared to where it was when I first sat in that chair.”
