Google's Kirkland workforce soars after office closures in Seattle, Bellevue last year
Googles employee count in Kirkland jumped 47% last yearafter the company closed offices in Seattle and in Bellevue, according to a report released Monday.
The total rose from 3,449 workers in 2024 to 5,076 in 2025, the citys 2025 comprehensive financial report shows, and now makes up a distinct majority of the tech titan's roughly 8,000-person workforce in the Puget Sound area.
It's the latest indicator of Google's rapid growth in Kirkland, where it had just 1,020 employees in 2016. The increase comes as the Alphabet Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) subsidiary has otherwise shrunk its regional office footprint in recent of years.
Google now employs about 11.51% of Kirklands workforce, cementing the Mountain View, California-headquartered company as the citys second-largest employer, just behind Evergreen Healthcares 5,200 employees.
