Despite the Pacific Northwest's embrace of light rail, critics like John Niles remain naysayers

One week ago, Sound Transit opened the long-awaited Crosslake Connection to massive crowds and great enthusiasm. People showed up in droves to ride, with many using it to get to and from No Kings protests. At last! — finally! — hurray! — said many delighted elected officials, community leaders, and transit advocates.

But not everyone was elated.

Seattle Times columnist Alex Fryer asked Sound Transit critic John Niles for his thoughts on the opening of the Crosslake Connection, and Niles took the opportunity to again knock the project and say that it shouldn’t have been built at all:

I was a hard ‘No’ on ST2 and it isn’t like I regret the vote.
