Trump tariffs could cost WA $2.2B, Gov. Ferguson says

The Brief

President Trump's proposed tariffs could cost Washington $2.2 billion in state revenue by 2029, according to an analysis by the state's Office of Financial Management, which also predicts higher prices for food, clothing, and cars, and the loss of about 31,900 jobs.

Washington Governor Bob Ferguson highlighted the report's findings, emphasizing the negative impact on the state's economy and budget, and the disproportionate burden on low-income households.

The tariffs are currently in effect pending a Supreme Court appeal, and state agencies are working to mitigate the impact on affected sectors, including agriculture and manufacturing.
