Marysville seeks comment on its low-income funding

EVERETT — The Marysville City Council is inviting public review and comment on the city’s use of federal funding in 2024 for low-income housing projects and services that expand economic opportunities for low-income people, a press release said.

The public can provide comment on Marysville’s Community Development Block Grants Program during a public hearing at 7 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Marysville Civic Center, 501 Delta Ave. Email written comments to kbird@marysvillewa.gov by 4 p.m. that day.

The CDBG program provides annual grants to help support cities’ low-income communities by funding housing projects and services, according to the city’s website. The funds for these grants are determined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development based on poverty levels, population, housing overcrowding, age of housing and if a city’s population is less than the expected rate.

A report detailing how the city progressed in carrying out CDBG objectives in 2024 can be downloaded at marysvillewa.gov/434/community-development-block-grants.
