Everett police officers called heroes for pulling driver from burning car

EVERETT — Two Everett police officers are being hailed as heroes after rescuing a trapped driver from a burning electric vehicle on I-5 early Saturday. The collision occurred on I-5 near U.S. 2 in Everett.

Officers responded within minutes to the crash scene near U.S. 2, to discover a car in flames, according to a social media post. As flames spread from the hood to nearby foliage, body cam footage showed both officers rushing to pull the driver from the car.

The names of the officers were not immediately disclosed.

“Their quick thinking and selfless actions reflect the very best of Everett PD. They put their lives on the line to save another, and I am impressed by their poise under pressure,” said Everett Police Chief John DeRousse in the post.
