Tyler mayoral runoff sees higher early turnout than May election

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - In-person early voting totals for the Tyler mayoral runoff election exceeded in-person early voting turnout in the May 2 mayoral election.

According to the Smith County elections office, 6,268 people voted early in-person for the June runoff between Stuart Hene and John Nix. Early voting in-person turnout for the four-person mayoral race in May was 5,415. This shows 853 more people voted in-person during the runoff’s early voting period.

509 absentee ballots had already been received for the runoff as of Wednesday, June 10. A total of 632 absentee ballots were cast in the May election.

Election Day is Saturday, June 13. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The non-partisan mayoral runoff is the only race on the ballot.
