RAINS COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - The City of Point announced Friday that it was laying off the entire police department, citing recently discovered debt and a lack of city funds.
The City announced that starting Friday, all members of the Point Police Department, including reserve officers and the chief of police, are being laid off. Additionally, all city-owned equipment, such as vehicles, guns, uniforms and tactical gear, must be returned by 4 p.m.
According to the city, when a new city council is appointed in May, any officer subject to this layoff may apply for reinstatement. However, it is unlikely funding will be available to rehire them.
According to a letter sent to city employees by Mayor Angela Nelson on Thursday, the decision was made after discovering the city is facing a critical lack of funding due to unpaid debts, fines and misappropriation of funds.

That would seem like some mid level title (sergeant) and another officer.
We are over policed in general and this town has white collar ineptitude or graft problems

Small town cop department- wonder if any of the cops are also local drug dealers?

I just looked it up because it has been decades since I lived there - they now have a chief and an officer assigned - but on a part-time basis. They are county employees and not 100% dedicated to the village. Population is about the same.
