Williamson County's longest serving mayor Rogers Anderson says he won't run in 2026

When Mayor Rogers Anderson first assumed the position of Williamson County mayor, Steve McNair was the Titans quarterback, George W. Bush was president and the county population was 136,953.

After serving the community for 22 years and becoming its longest-serving mayor in the process, Anderson has announced that he plans to step down and not seek re-election in 2026.

“I've always had a strong emphasis in believing that public education, oftentimes, is one of the reasons why people move to a community,” he said. “When kids are graduating at high percentages, then your community is sound and businesses are sure to follow. I wanted to help continue to make this community great.”

Anderson was first elected to the county commission in 1986. He served 16 years as a commissioner, and he was the group's chairman for eight years before he was elected as county mayor in 2002.
