Render, Hatley lead in Myrtle Beach runoff election, unofficial results show

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — In a closely watched municipal runoff election in Myrtle Beach, unofficial results reveal that Dr. Phil Render and incumbent councilperson Jackie Hatley have secured the two remaining open seats on the City Council.

Render garnered 2,635 votes, while Hatley received 2,445 votes. Their competitor, Nick Vaugh, trailed with 1,646 votes.

The Myrtle Beach Election Commission is scheduled to meet at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, in the second-floor conference room at City Hall, 937 Broadway St., to canvass the votes and certify the election results. This meeting is open to the public.

Render previously served on the Myrtle Beach City Council for roughly two decades before not seeking re-election in 2023.
