Leslie Rodgers wins Spartanburg city council runoff election

PARTANBURG — Leslie Rodgers won the runoff election for the Spartanburg City Council seat formerly held by Rob Rain, who vacated his position this year for a spot on the S.C. Ports Authority Board.

Rodgers narrowly defeated Joshua Summers with 52% of the vote the evening of Nov. 18. According to unofficial results, Rodgers won with 414 votes to Summers’ 381.

Rodgers did not immediately respond to request for comment.

“I think it was a great campaign. I was really happy that Leslie and I were able to run a clean campaign,” said Summers, who’s a dentist. “My main objective is just to serve the city of Spartanburg, and I’ll continue to do that in my practice, raising some great kids and serving in my church.
