Three residents running for two seats in Port Royal election. Here's whose running

There’s a contest in the Nov. 4 election in Port Royal, where three candidates have filed for two open seats on the Town Council in the community of 16,000.

The candidates are Mary Beth Gray Heyward, Darryl Owens and Angie Tillman. Heyward and Owens are the incumbents.

The two candidates with the most votes will win the seats.

The winners of the Nov. 4 election will join a five-person council that’s been wrestling with development of two miles of waterfront on Battery Creek in recent years. Safe Harbor Marinas, which owns the land, has plans to build a large marina. Housing, retail development and public amenities such as a boardwalk around the marina are part of the plans as well.
