RI-SD04: R.I. Senate District 4 Democratic primary election competes for attention of voters
here was a lag in voters arriving at Veazie Street Elementary School in Providence early Tuesday afternoon. But Lisa Ranglin, the sister of Marcia Ranglin-Vassell, stayed positive.
I think people are engaged, and I think thats what we want, said Ranglin, who was interviewed while sitting at a small table covered with her sisters campaign literature outside the school polling site. We want to see voters come out.
Ranglin-Vassell is one of four candidates running in the special Democratic primary for Senate District 4, which spans North Providence and the northern end of Providence. The election will help determine which candidate will advance to the Aug. 5 general election to fill the unexpired term of former Senate President Dominick Ruggerio, who died in April.
Several dozen voters came to Whelan Elementary School in North Providence during a 45-minute span at mid-day. North Providence firefighter Jay Petrillo was interviewed near the entrance way of Whelan Elementary School in North Providence where he was campaigning for Stefano Famiglietti.
