OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) A new bill proposed by Republicans is trying to restore a USAID program.
Recent cuts to USAID, the agency that purchases and distributes U.S. commodities to food-insecure nations, have created uncertainty for those who rely on their crops.
Oklahoma farmers have played a key role in feeding people around the world and the recent freeze concerned them, at first, but with the new bill being introduced, theyre hopeful.
I think short term we were concerned that it would have an impact, but I think the administration overall is just looking at transparency with all programs, said Mike Schulte, the executive director of Oklahoma Wheat Commission.
