Jefferson County approves major precinct overhaul affecting 27% of voters by 2025 election

TEUBENVILLE, Ohio — Voters in Jefferson County, particularly in areas such as Adena, Amsterdam, and Mingo Junction, will experience changes in their polling locations due to new precincts and polling sites established by the Jefferson County Board of Elections.

"There were some polling locations that were no longer going to be available to us," said Frankie DiCarlantonio, of the Jefferson County Board of Elections. "There were some that, within the very near future, they were not going to be available to us, so we took that into effect in this comprehensive overview that we did of all of the polling locations in Jefferson County."

The changes aim to improve equipment redundancy at polling sites.

"We wanted to create redundancy at our polling locations," DiCarlantonio said. "So, in Jefferson County, there are no longer any polling locations that have one single precinct within them. So what that allows us to do, it allows us to have more equipment at these polling locations so, in the event of an equipment failure, we don't have to go to backup procedures."
