State auditor announces new commission to help modernize NC's election management system

RALEIGH, N.C. (WLOS) — The North Carolina State Auditor Dave Boliek has announced the creation of the Modernization of Election Data Systems (MEDS) commission that is to help provide assistance and practical advice in modernizing North Carolina's election management system.

According to a news release, Boliek's office and the North Carolina State Board of Elections are working on a three-phase plan to modernize that Statewide Elections Information Management System.

The State Board manages the system, and Bolieks' office will direct and supervise all budgeting functions of the board.

The release says Boliek's office and the board have recently issued a request for approval on the second phase of the plan.
