New Hanover County Board of Elections Recommends DeNay Harris as Elections Director
The New Hanover County Board of Elections voted unanimously to recommend Ms. DeNay Harris for appointment as County Elections Director. Her name has been submitted to the Executive Director of the North Carolina State Board of Elections for final appointment under state law, with a proposed start date of February 3, 2026.
Ms. Harris currently serves as Director of Elections and General Registrar for Charles City County, Virginia. During the State's review, the Board will continue operations with ongoing County support and remains focused on transparency, compliance with state law, and administering fair, safe, and secure elections as preparations continue for the March primary.
