Board of Elections considers election protest in Morehead City mayoral race

CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - The Carteret County Board of Elections has voted to move forward with a protest over the Morehead City mayoral election.

Board members met at their office on Monday morning to conduct a preliminary hearing regarding an election protest filed by Morehead City Mayor Jerry Jones.

There, they discussed whether they should proceed with the protest regarding claims from individuals whom Jones says approached him.

“The primary evidence is from individuals that reached out and said they were unable to vote and were not offered a provisional ballot,” Jones said.
