Mamdani says he'll reschedule town hall with WABC after Kimmel is reinstated

Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani on Monday afternoon said he plans to reschedule a televised town hall set to be hosted by WABC after ABC announced that Jimmy Kimmel’s show will return to the air on Tuesday.

"Whether you watch Jimmy Kimmel or not, today's decision is a victory for free speech," Mamdani wrote in a social media post. "We've reached out to WABC to reschedule the town hall."

The assemblyman originally said Monday morning that he would not participate in local ABC affiliate WABC's event, which was scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 25, citing the network's suspension of Kimmel's show.

ABC suspended Kimmel indefinitely last week in the wake of criticism over comments he made about the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
