Get Out: Adams Opens Campaign Office in Building With Vacate Order
Mayor Eric Adams cut the ribbon on a new campaign office on Thursday, but the Brooklyn storefront its inside has a full vacate order following a wall collapse two years ago meaning technically it isnt supposed to be occupied.
On May 7, 2023, a 75-foot section of masonry brick collapsed and fell off of a stretch of stores from 5801 to 5815 Avenue T, records show. The Department of Buildings at the time issued a full vacate order, which is still in effect.
The Mill Basin buildings owner, listed as 5803 Realty LLC, put in permits to repair the parapet wall and roof but has not requested a re-inspection, according to a DOB spokesperson.
The owners can call up the Department and request a reinspection, so that DOB can conduct an inspection, review findings from their engineer, and potentially consider lifting the Vacate Order, the spokesperson, Andrew Rudansky, told THE CITY in an email.
