Six Dead After Small Plane Crashes In Upstate New York; Cause Under Investigation - CNN-News18

A small plane crashed in upstate New York, killing all six people on board, officials said, coming just days after a helicopter plummeted into the Hudson River.

The Mitsubishi MU-2B was headed to Columbia County Airport in Hudson, New York, when it crashed into an open field near Copake, a small town located about 20 miles southeast of the airport, around 12:15 p.m. local time on April 12, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.

The aircraft went down on Two Town Road near Copake and did not damage any structures, Undersheriff Jacqueline Salvatore said at a news conference. - Aired on 04/14/2025.

And Secretary Pete had an excellent record of air safety...

Have there been more plane accidents this year than in 2024? Here's what the data shows

Are you afraid to take to the skies due to this year's recent aviation accidents? If so, hold fast to your seat belt ― you don't want to rush to cancel your vacation trip just yet.

In January, 67 people were killed during a collision between an American Airlines regional jet and an Army helicopter near Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.

"It was the deadliest air disaster in over two decades." said a USA TODAY story.

Seven more people died on Jan. 31 when a medical jet crashed near Roosevelt Mall at Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard in Philadelphia. In February, a single-engine plane crash occurred near Nome, Alaska, leaving 10 people dead. At an Arizona Airport in early February, an airplane owned by Motley Crue singer Vince Neil veered into a jet, killing one.

Most recently, a dozen were injured due to a jet crashing and flipping upside down at a Toronto airport. Atlanta Delta Flight 876 heading to Columbia, South Carolina, also had to make an emergency landing Monday after passengers spotted haze filling up a cabin.

It may be overwhelming to take in all of these recent incidents, especially in the new year. But does this indicate there are more airplane crashes occurring than before? Here's what data from the National Transportation and Safety Board says.
