ELEC Issues Nearly $15k In Late Filing Fines

The New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission issued nearly $15,000 in fines in May and June, according to state filings.

Morris County Commissioner and 2023 state Senate candidate Tom Mastrangelo was fined a total of $8,866.16 for late reporting of contributions to his 2023 campaign, which fell short. ELEC found that Mastrangelo had failed to properly report thousands of dollars in contributions — he submitted them in May and June 2025, after a complaint had been issued against him in March 2025.

The Holmdel Republican Committee was fined $2,860.94 for late reporting of contributions and failing to return a contribution over the $4,800 limit.

Several candidates also received fines ranging from $275 to $475 for late sworn statements: Benjamin Risley of Egg Harbor City, Jorge Santiago of Rochelle Park, Brian Smith of Northfield City, Chris Weber of Springfield Township, Mary Ann Wardlow of Lawnside Borough, Kevin Winslow of Englewood City, Victor Kaminski of Linden, Joseph Branco of Hudson County, Christopher Foley of Lebanon, and Anne Dedousis of South Bound Brook. Jennifer Fox of National Park Borough and Benjamin Fox Sr. of National Park Borough were reprimanded for late sworn statements, but were not issued a fine because of financial hardship.
