There's some rays of hope': Neurosurgeon hopeful about recovery of 12-year-old shot at Annunciation Church

The father of a 12-year-old who is still hospitalized after being shot at Annunciation Church last week spoke publicly for the first time on Friday.

Sophia Forchas is still hospitalized at Hennepin Healthcare’s pediatric ICU in critical condition.

“To carry out such an atrocity against innocent children, children who were praying during mass, is unfathomable,” said Tom Forchas, Sophia’s father.

He added that the past 10 days have been some of the longest and hardest of the family’s lives, and also thanked everyone who helped Sophia, giving her “a fighting chance.”
