The 64-year-old was standing on the shore by her boat, the AuSable River Queen, a longtime tourist attraction that spent six decades taking people on cruises up and down the river for which it was named. It saw weddings and family reunions and school field trips, and hosted thousands of passengers every season.
Then, one night in March, the boat suddenly sank.

Last week, a judge finally told her it was over. She was given two weeks to move it or lose it. Unless she finds a way to take it with her, the township will break the boat into pieces at the end of the month and scrap it all the faded wood railings, the rusty hull, the memories, the history. ...............(more)
