Flint's 3rd Ward City Council election set for Aug. 5

FLINT, Mich. — Flint’s Third Ward voters will go to the polls Tuesday, Aug. 5, to elect a new City Council member and fill a seat that has been vacant since September 2024.

Candidates Beverly Biggs-Leavy and A.C. Dumas will face off in the August general election after finishing in a 165-vote tie during the May special election.

The seat was previously held by Councilman Quincy Murphy, who died in September 2024 while serving a term ending in November 2026. The council did not appoint a replacement, leaving the seat vacant for several months.

The winner of the upcoming election will serve the remainder of Murphy’s term through November 2026.
