Gov. Moore appeals Trump's denial for disaster relief.

The flooding caused $33.7 million in damages.

ov. Wes Moore is officially appealing President Donald Trump's denial of a Major Disaster Declaration, keeping FEMA from sending funding to Maryland after devastating flooding in May caused nearly $34 million in damages — triple the state’s qualifying threshold for federal assistance, officials said.

FEMA rebuffed Maryland’s initial request for funding on July 22, saying that disaster assistance was unwarranted. But since that denial, the agency's inspections have revealed an additional $17.9 million in damages, bringing the total damages to $33.7 million.
