Fire protection for District 3 in Beauregard voted down during Saturday's election
DERIDDER, La. (KPLC) - The fire protection property tax renewal for Beauregard District 3 failed Saturday with 309 voters saying “no” and 256 voters saying “yes”.
This came as a surprise for Interim Fire Chief, Lee Williams.
“Even though the tax didn’t renew we still get the 2026 budget but in 2027 if we don’t get it passed again then the fire department will have to shut down.”
Williams is in the acting fire chief seat for now after the current Fire Chief, Daryl Binford, was recently suspended. Williams confirmed the suspension, but would not give further details.
